Day 12 – Sadgill to Askham

Today’s leg of the Pilgrimage is one I’ve been apprehensive about as it involved carrying Clarion over a high mountain pass on a rocky track…

BUT

We had 12 people turn up to help so were able to carry Clarion in his harness. This has a strap handle at each side of his long neck, so with two people there and two at his feet he was easily carried as if he was laying on a stretcher.

The scenery was stupendous with the sun slowing rising over the mountains around us. It was breathtaking.

This was the day for really hard core walkers and carriers. Well done guys and thank you!

And some more repairs before setting off.

Clarion in his harness for the first time as the trolley will not make it over Gatesgarth Pass (neither will the van which has to do 26 miles to reach the other end of this 4 mile long stretch)

Magnificent weather, just perfect.

Lunch for Bamber Hawes and crew outside the Haweswater Hotel. Thank you for the soup!

Clarion is a very modern bear. He's active on social media and would be happy if you would follow him.

Up to date information about Clarion's progress is on the Facebook page where there are also links to WhatsApp groups for each day (in the Events tab) . You'll find invitation links for each day so you can find out where Clarion is, see who else is meeting where, and what time he's expected to arrive at points on the way.

He also has a phone: 07432 137 034 so if you need to find out where he is en route, this is the number to call.

He also has a second phone to cover another network area, so feel free to call this one if the first one doesn't work: 07932958959
