Leave Lockerbie on B7076, over the M6, then minor road north west to Applegarthtown, Fishbeck, Spedlins, Lochbrow, Panlands, Kirkbank, Johnstonecleugh, Blackburn.
Then footpath north through Hazelbank Plantation to Mosslands and Beattock.

On to Beattock Hill Fort, then minor road alongside M6 through Middlegill and Harthope. Over M6 through Bodsberry Hill to Elvanfoot and Crawford.
