Day 14 –  Calthwaite to Cargo

Today’s theme was local politics. I was walking with people who are involved with refugees and with a couple whose house has been flooded a number of times. I heard stories of local government incompetance, and mis-management, planning disputes, and misuse of funds. Why is it that wherever you go it seems there are the same kinds of stories.

But then these exact same stories seem to be played out on a national level. It all depresses me. I know there are lots of honest, hardworking people in government at both local and national levels. But when party politics is involved, it all goes to pot.

Tomorrow I will walk into Scotland! I’ll be around 205 miles from home, so two thirds of the way to COP 26

Clarion fitted in well with the Christmas decorations in Carlisle

A rainbow as we were leaving Cargo.

Clarion is a very modern bear. He's active on social media and would be happy if you would follow him.

Up to date information about Clarion's progress is on the Facebook page where there are also links to WhatsApp groups for each day (in the Events tab) . You'll find invitation links for each day so you can find out where Clarion is, see who else is meeting where, and what time he's expected to arrive at points on the way.

He also has a phone: 07432 137 034 so if you need to find out where he is en route, this is the number to call.

He also has a second phone to cover another network area, so feel free to call this one if the first one doesn't work: 07932958959
