21 miles – our longest day

After the buzz of yesterday with a crowd of helpers, today was much quicker.

We found out yesterday that with a 10ft high bear on a platform – making him 13ft high – it’s not possible to walk on footpaths due to overhanging trees, the narrowness of the paths and fences and stiles. So today we re-jigged the route amd proceeded along minor roads with Clarion on his trolley. Crew joined and left during the day and Clarion and I walked 21 miles. I have discovered the joy of Ibuprofen maximum strength gel for tired knees!

I had only done a short test with Clarion on the trolley before we left so it was a great relief that it works so well. We did have to do some tinkering to make a backpack into a chest and shoulder harness to pull him and then all was well.

Clarion is a very modern bear. He's active on social media and would be happy if you would follow him.

Up to date information about Clarion's progress is on the Facebook page where there are also links to WhatsApp groups for each day (in the Events tab) . You'll find invitation links for each day so you can find out where Clarion is, see who else is meeting where, and what time he's expected to arrive at points on the way.

He also has a phone: 07432 137 034 so if you need to find out where he is en route, this is the number to call.

He also has a second phone to cover another network area, so feel free to call this one if the first one doesn't work: 07932958959
